Rising out of the ashes of sexual assault, and into the light of life
“Though I have fallen, I will rise.” - Micah 7:8
Just in case we've never met:
From: born in London, raised in Texas
Current: New York City
Favorite things: faith, family, friends, football, food, adventurous travels, art in all forms, the sun, and the beach.
Least favorite things: the MTA, bad food, and bad airport/flying etiquette - we're trapped together in a metal tube, people. Don't take off your stinky shoes or bring your homemade fish into this enclosed, free of fresh air, prison.
Fears: stingrays, snakes, and cats
Currently on my iPod: Coldplay, One Direction, Luke Bryan, the Zac Brown Band, Elton John, Van Morrison, Hozier, the Biebs, Jeff Buckley, Adele, Hillsong United, Elvis, The Dixie Chicks, Bethel, Taylor Swift.
Weird hobby: Scrapbooking (so basically I'm 80 years old on the inside.)
Why a blog?: Hm. I recently discovered that I love to write and that not shockingly to anyone who knows me, I have a lot to say. My prayer is that this blog can offer people hope, start a discussion that so desperately needs to be started, and maybe even bring a little humor into people's lives.
Why the name I ARISE?: It's what I hoped to do when I began this journey of healing, recovery, and discovery almost two years ago. To rise out of the ashes of sexual assault, and into the light of life.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
